Websites and Banner posters

In my practical production i also have to create a website; and as Kingsman is a popular film i decided to look at its website as it fits in with my genre of film, spy/thriller. However, it doesn't have its own individual website, it is on 20th Century Fox's website who are the distributors of the film. When you click onto the website on the "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" section, it immediately has a synopsis of the film and shows where you can watch the film "ON BLU-RAY, DVD DIGITAL" and then shares information about the contents of the film, such as the run time, genre, directors, producers and who the cast is as well as a picture of the film poster to go along with the summary of the film. It also has different sections such as a social updates, featured content interactive page where you can learn more about the film and upcoming films, such as Kingsman 3. It also has a movies section; where you can browse and look up your favourite films, or other films that are out in cinema right now or on DVD that you can watch.

This is an example of an audio visual piece that 20th Century Fox have on the website which i could also do; reviewing the film and the characters on a mini podcast that lasts 30-45 seconds, with a narrator speaking on the certain topics that i would include in my audio visual piece, or using this audio visual section to promote my film or website etc.

This is an example of a banner poster that i would have to also produce; on one side such as this side, the advertisement is in the shape of a T. Whereas, the other side such as the picture below is a horizontal banner poster, which would be used to promote the film. From looking at several bus banner posters, i have gathered that the advertisements on them are simple and clean, short and snappy to get their points across such as advertising a new film.

Survey

My survey:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScKbYDaEPpgZ5zm1S8SWwvqLtfwCz3ZF5vLqN23nK4lQkb7OA/viewform?usp=sf_link

From looking at the results i have collected;
8 out of the 10 people that participated in the survey were in the age bracket 46-55 and the other 2 were in the age bracket 30-35.
5 out of the 10 people who participated in the survey were male whereas the other 2 people who participated in the survey were female, and 3 people chose prefer not to say.
4 of the 10 people who participated in the survey choose fantasy/superhero as the type of film that they would be more likely to see. Whereas 3 people chose spy/thriller which is the type of genre that i will be doing for my practical piece, 2 people chose action/adventure and 1 person chose historical/period as the type of film that they would be most likely to see.
7 people said that they watch films via subscription e.g Netflix, whereas 6 people said Cinema, 5 people said streaming. 3 people said TV channels and 2 people said DVD.
7 people said that they would pick up and purchase a DVD due to what the plot summary was, 5 people said they would pick up and purchase a DVD due to the awards the film has won; to justify whether or not it is worth to watch it, 5 people said it would be due to the fact if their was a famous actor starring in the film or not, 2 people said if there favourite actor was on the DVD cover, another 2 people said that if there were any explosions/dramatic scenes. 4 people said it would be due to what the title/name/design of the front cover. 4 people said it would be due to what the price/offer is and 2 people said they wouldn't buy a DVD or Blu-Ray.
8 out of the 10 people expected to see information about upcoming films on a film production/studio production website, whereas only 2 people would like to see it. 8 out of the 10 people said that they would like to see information about the characters of a certain film and 2 people expect to see that on a film production/studio website. 6 people do not expect a store to buy merchandise on a studio/film production website, whereas 2 people expect a store to buy merchandise and 2 more people would like to see a store to buy merchandise.
9 people said that they are most likely to see adverts for films on social media, 7 people said on buses, 7 people said Cinema, 4 people said via newspaper, 6 people said on billboards, 4 people said on the radio and 7 people said online.
9 people said that the statement that best describes them is that they are socially and politically aware, 8 people said that they like to ask questions and find out new information, 5 people said that they like to go on adventures and visit new places, 4 people said that they are interested in buying all of the latest products, 2 people said they like to take risks and discover new things and 0 people said that they value their own opinion over others.
7 people said that they would they would go to a new resort every year whereas 3 people said that they would go to the same resort each year.
8 people said that they would buy products due to what the brand is whereas only 2 people said that they wouldn't.

From collecting these results i have found out that the majority of people who participated in this survey are explorers, as they like to experience new things and visit new places; they buy the latest technology and do like spy/thriller films which is targeted towards explorers and is what type of film poster i would be doing for my practical piece. I'll be using these results to determine what to include in my film poster, such as a good plot summary as that was the highest voted answer that would encourage people to buy a DVD or Blu Ray, orientating my film poster towards the male audience as they were 50% of the people who took the survey etc. Also from collecting my results, i have gathered a general gist on what i would be doing for my media production; it would be similar to a James bond movie as there would be a main protagonist

Moodboard

The Kingsman and James Bond (two similar media products)

The Kingsman – Secret Service:

Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton), whose late father secretly worked for a spy organization, lives in a South London housing estate and seems headed for a life behind bars. However, dapper agent Harry Hart (Colin Firth) recognizes potential in the youth and recruits him to be a trainee in the secret service. Meanwhile, villainous Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) launches a diabolical plan to solve the problem of climate change via a worldwide killing spree.

Colour scheme:
The colour scheme of this poster consists of a mixture of colours, ranging from gold, white and black as well as silver. The colour of the fonts are predominately gold; which could suggest the royalty and highness of the Kingsmen in the film, as that is what you would associate with the colour gold, there are also fire and sparks within the poster which could infer the violence that would happen within the film, the use of the guns portrayed in the poster could also suggest the violence and action within the film which would also attract the target audience of the film which would be male teenagers as there is violence as well as action within the film and that is usually more appealing to male teenagers. The background colour is also black which suits the spies persona; wearing black suits, looking smartly dressed, and ready to fight but whilst looking good for it.

Position of text and antagonists:

The main 3 characters within the film are positioned in the middle/top of the poster, which instantly grabs our attentions as 3 of the main characters are well known; Colin Firth, Micheal Caine and Samuel L Jackson. By positioning these characters in this way, it could attract different audiences as the names of the main characters are positioned at the top of the poster; therefore more people would watch the film due to the actors starring in it are very well known. The font of the release date as well as the title really stands out in the poster due to the font as well as the black background, its easy to read and viewers can easily see when the film is released so they can go watch it in the cinema. By having the main characters who are the villains as well as the heroes within close proximity of each other could suggest that it would be 4 main heroes as well as 2 main villains against each other as we can infer that the two villains are on opposite sides to each other and the rest are around them.

James Bond, Skyfall:

When James Bond's (Daniel Craig) latest assignment goes terribly wrong, it leads to a calamitous turn of events: Undercover agents around the world are exposed, and MI6 is attacked, forcing M (Judi Dench) to relocate the agency. With MI6 now compromised inside and out, M turns to the one man she can trust: Bond. Aided only by a field agent (Naomie Harris), Bond takes to the shadows and follows a trail to Silva (Javier Bardem), a man from M's past who wants to settle an old score.

Colour Scheme:
The colour scheme of the poster is predominantly black; which has connotations of evil, power and death and white which also has connotations of innocence, purity and success which is ironic as the two colours have completely different meanings and Daniel Craig (James Bond) is surrounded by both of them, which could foreshadow how his character acts in this specific film Skyfall. the poster also has a hint of gold for the "007" as well as blue as Daniel Craig's outfit consists of white, black and blue. The colour scheme is simple and is what is expected of James Bond posters as they all have the same concept, same look to them but just different colour schemes and certain things in the background are different as well as the poses Daniel Craig does are also different such as the James Bond Spectre poster for example, he has his arms crossed instead of relaxed as he is in the sky fall poster, he has a different background behind him in Skyfall compared to Spectre, he has a silencer on his gun for Spectre and doesn't in Skyfall etc. The colour scheme attracts a more male audience usually who are in their teens as the film is an action film as well as a spy film which stereotypically targets the teenage male audience for this film.

                                                          Position of text and protagonist:
Daniel Craig is positioned in the centre of the poster as he is the main attraction of the film as he is the main protagonist; James Bond and is always wearing a suit and having a weapon of some sort in posters as that is his persona and what he is known as; an  intelligence officer that works for the MI6 (the secret service). This displays how the film belongs to the action genre as a gun usually represents a lot of violence and danger.
The font is eye catching and grabs your attention, as it is a clean font and a font you would associate to be in a spy film poster due to how it looks. The title of the poster is towards the bottom of the poster but is at a spot where it still grabs your attention as the font size of the title is bigger than the text below it therefore that makes it stand out, and that it is a different font compared to the text below it.
The fact that the 007 logo is on the poster makes people recognize that this is a bond film as it is highly regarded within the action film genre and is very well known, the fact that they used the colour gold for the logo could resemble the fact that it shows personal power and success within the bond films.

I am choosing the film marketing section of my production brief due to the fact i watch a lot of films and have a huge interest in them compared to the other briefs which i am not so interested in. My initial ideas on the creation of the DVD would be targeted towards a more adventure film, inspired by the Maze Runner; as that genre is one of my favorites as well as the action film genre; superhero movies etc. However, i was considering doing a spy film, as it would be easier to take photos for it rather than an action/adventure film. As there are places i could go to get my pictures that i would need for my production, pictures in dark alleyways, pictures in a warehouse, in an abandoned place etc and props for it would be easier to obtain, as well as it being easier to get characters for that genre.

This is my newspaper front page which is apart of my development on creating practical pieces of work, i learnt how to format a newspaper as well, by using particular font sizes in order for it to look more like a newspaper, rather than just using the typical Calibri font as the headline font. Using pictures to back up my headlines, by titling my newspaper name as "The Fake News" as irony as the headlines are fake news and what Trump would classify as fake news. Using these techniques, it has helped me to design the front page of this newspaper.
